Wayne
went from Taft to earn a degree in government at Harvard University and a Juris
Doctor degree from University of Illinois College of Law.
He served as administrative assistant to Henry Hyde, then the majority leader of
the Illinois House of Representatives. He joined the law firm of Burditt
and Calkins in 1972, rising to partner in 1977. From 1981-84 he was Deputy
Illinois Secretary of State to future governor Jim Edgar.
Wayne is a former president of the Maine Township Regular Republicans and ran in
1974 for Cook County treasurer.
He was elected a Cook County Circuit Court judge in November 1984. Since 1991 he
has served as a U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.
