Susan
saw first hand the impact of domestic or "partner" abuse, which led to tragedy
in her own family. She became an advocate for the victims of abuse,
backing them up in court, providing advice in her books, on radio and in blogs,
working for court protections, and putting her own life at risk. "She
saved many lives," said the friend who nominated her. Susan lost her
battle with cancer in 2013.
