William’s
first career was in the U.S. Navy, serving on seven aircraft cruises, including
combat in Vietnam. He served two tours in the Pentagon with the Joint Chiefs of
Staff and the Navy Department achieving the rank of commander. He represented
the United States at NATO, and worked with the White House involving strategic
communications.
After law school, he served seven years as an assistant district attorney in
Racine, WI, prosecuting more than 10,000 cases. Noticing that successful
students were less likely to have problems with police, he ran for the Racine
Unified School Board, where he has served several terms as board president.
William also serves on the village board of Wind Point, WI, and on the boards
for Lincoln Lutheran, providing nursing and assisted living to the needy and for
a ministry providing transitional housing for abused women and their children.
