Warren
started his career as a chemist, working to purify drinking water. His
wife Jill became a teacher from elementary school to university level, including
writing, literature and English as a Second Language. She has also written
picture dictionaries and language workbooks. Their careers took them to
Sweden and California. But Warren's great grandparents had founded
Schimpff's Confectionary 125 years ago. When the last of the relatives who
had run the business died, Warren and Jill bought the company in 1990 and
relocated to Jeffersonville, Indiana. They make candy the old fashioned
way, have started a related candy museum, and have been recognized for their
work in bulding business and tourism in "Kentuckiana".
