This Alumni Creative Arts and Sciences Index (<- Click Link) celebrates the many ways our graduates share their talents with the world. Our goal is not only to honor their achievements, but also to inspire current Taft students by showing them what’s possible.
Chicago author Richard Lindberg (1971) told us, "2028 will mark fifty years of writing and book publishing for me -- my twenty-first book has just come out. It's been a labor of love throughout, with setbacks and many more personal rewards. Mrs. Alice Jerusal, my junior year English teacher, was the first person in my life to advise me to pursue writing and aspire to become an author or journalist. I've done both. I never thought it could happen but she had faith in me and encouraged me, and I'll never forget her because at Onahan, my seventh grade teacher, Mrs. Layah Golden gave me a failing grade on my original composition--a book report on the Diary of Anne Frank--that she accused me of plagiarizing because in her words, 'I did not possess the ability to write like that!'"
We'd like to recognize an alumnus who, although he did not author a book, found himself the subject of a book and thereby a major contributor. You can read about Chet Lee (June '58) and his incredible true story in "A Pawn of Fate" by Rita Keeley Brown.
